Environmental Policy
1. Policy Statement Corporate Insignia recognises that as a major employer and provider of services, it can have an impact on the environment. The company will strive towards achieving a more sustainable future by seeking to minimise any adverse environmental impact in the way it operates/discharges its responsibilities. This statement applies to all aspects of Corporate Insignia operations. This includes management and utilisation of environmental impacts i.e. water, waste, energy, estates, goods and services. This will extend wherever possible to work undertaken with partners and other agencies (including contractors and service providers). 2. Scope The scope of this policy is to assist Corporate Insignia to: (a) Comply with the environmental legislation. (b) Minimise adverse impact on the environment in the way it operates. (c) Consider opportunities to improve the environment. (d) Increasing employee awareness of environmental policies and responsibilities. (e) Encourage partnership working. Additionally, the company will, wherever possible: (a) Utilise ‘eco-friendly’ alternative products, where possible (within financial constraints). (b) Improve Cost effectiveness, productivity and working conditions. 3. Aims The main aims, which Corporate Insignia seek to achieve encompassing the scope, are: (a) To ensure that the company complies with the environmental legislation, particularly regarding waste disposal. (b) To minimise the company’s adverse impact on the environment, in particular through the: · Reduction in pollutants/CO2 emissions · Conservation of energy and water · Use of sustainable resources · Adopting methods to ensure the efficient and economic use of fuels · Use of recycling (c) To seek to identify ways in which the environment can be enhanced, particularly when planning new building developments. (d) To explore measures to enhance employee environmental awareness. (e) To promote working to improve the quality of the environment wherever possible. 4. Principles (i) Corporate Insignia will continue to monitor environmental legislation developments in relation to waste disposal, with a view to adopt/amend internal practices wherever practical: (a) Reduction in pollutants/CO2 emissions. (b) Conservation of energy and water. (c) Use of sustainable resources. (d) Adopting methods to ensure the efficient and economic use of fuels. (e) Use of recycling. (ii) Corporate Insignia will continue to identify environmental improvements in relation to building developments, with a view to encompassing new methods wherever practical. (iii) Employee’s awareness of environmental issues and their impact in the workplace will be enhanced via the availability of a dedicated intranet environmental safe, awareness training during induction sessions and the force wide publication of policy and associated procedures. (iv) Corporate Insignia will encourage partnership working and endeavour to ensure that those partners are environmentally friendly. (v) Wherever and whenever possible Corporate Insignia will seek to support others, such as the Environmental Agency and the local authorities, by reporting instances that have or might have a detrimental impact on the environment. 5. Monitoring The Support Service Manager, Property Services Manager and the Health & Safety Advisor where appropriate (environmental impact issues), will monitor energy consumption and environment reports submitted to ensure that progress and good practice can be identified and shared across the Company.
